Lindsay started her hair salon back in 2012. All customers came to Lindsay via word of mouth. Which is testament to the amazing, personalized service she brings to her salon. As her services expanded into beauty: Lash Lifts, Brow Laminations and Facial Waxing, she no longer only did hair.
Like most small solopreneurs, Lindsay didn't see the initial need at the time to have a professional logo and visual identity to represent her brand. But, as she started expanding and creating a online presence on social media, she needed a brand identity that could help her be seen as professional, high-end, and someone who has been doing this for over a decade. She needed a brand image that was cohesive, modern and memorable.
Lindsay initially came to us to help with a give away post for her Instagram post. But soon realized we needed to build a strong foundation for Lindsay to develop her brand presence from. We first started by understanding her audience, who is it exactly that she services and how does she service them? We mapped out her ideal target persona to really get a feel of her users and their needs.
Once we understood the audience, we did some research on the competitors and started moodboarding a bunch of different logo concepts and ideas. The goal was to keep it simple and timeless. We wanted the brand image to feel sophisticated and indicate that its been around for a while. We incorporated the established year (EST. 2012) into the logo and symbol mark to show authority and credibility as a small business owner — because she is really experienced and talented at what she does. She now has a brand image that she can be proud of and want to drive new customers to.
