Why Your Webflow Site Feels More Complicated Than Ever — And How We Can Help
So, you’ve invested in a Webflow website—maybe you had one custom developed or you bought a template thinking it would be easy to update as your business grew. After all, Webflow promised a no-code solution that would empower everyday business owners to manage their own websites without needing to hire a developer for every small tweak.
But fast forward to today, and you’re realizing something that many other business owners are feeling too: no-code doesn’t mean simple anymore.
Webflow Has Evolved… and It’s Not as DIY-Friendly as You Thought
Webflow started out as an intuitive platform for non-developers. But with every shiny new release—Memberships, Logic, Variables, Components, Localization, Apps—it’s become clear that Webflow is evolving into a serious tool for designers and developers. And while that’s great for the tech-savvy, it’s left a lot of everyday business owners scratching their heads.
If you’ve found yourself:
• Struggling to make basic updates without breaking the layout…
• Confused by complex class structures and inconsistent naming conventions from your original build…
• Worried about performance issues, broken links, and outdated SEO practices…
• Overwhelmed by all the “best practices” you now need to follow just to keep your site functioning smoothly…
You’re not alone.
The Truth: Webflow Websites Need Ongoing TLC (And That’s OK!)
As powerful as Webflow is, it’s not a “set it and forget it” kind of platform anymore. Sites need clean, scalable structures, regular updates, performance checks, and new features integrated properly to stay ahead of the game. Whether you’re dealing with outdated components, clunky interactions, or an unorganized backend, managing your Webflow site can quickly turn into a full-time job.

Launch Quickly and Affordably: Reskinning a Webflow Template for Your Business
When you’re a business owner on a limited budget, the idea of building a custom website might feel out of reach. But what if you could still have a high-performing, beautiful, and modern site without breaking the bank? With Webflow templates, you can do just that.
Reskinning a pre-made Webflow template is a cost-effective way to launch your website quickly while still maintaining a professional and polished look. At KHULA, we believe that great design and functionality don’t have to come at a premium price, and this approach allows businesses to get to market faster with a tailored solution.
In this blog, we’ll explore what reskinning a Webflow template involves, its advantages, and how to make the most of this option for your business.
What is Reskinning a Webflow Template?
Reskinning refers to taking an existing pre-designed Webflow template and customizing it to reflect your brand. Rather than starting from scratch, you use the foundation of a professionally designed template and adapt it with your branding, content, and visuals.
Key Elements to Customize:
• Colors: Replace the template’s color scheme with your brand colors.
• Typography: Update fonts to match your brand style guide.
• Images: Swap out stock photos with high-quality images specific to your business.
• Content: Edit headings, body text, and CTAs to align with your message.
This approach allows you to benefit from the expertise of professional designers while significantly reducing time and cost.
Why Choose a Webflow Template?
1. Cost-Effective Solution
Custom website development can be expensive, especially for startups or small businesses. Webflow templates provide a high-quality starting point at a fraction of the cost, allowing you to allocate your budget strategically.
2. Faster Time to Market
With the design and structure already in place, reskinning a template is much quicker than building a website from scratch. This means you can launch your website in weeks, not months.
3. High-Quality Design
Webflow templates are created by professional designers and developers, ensuring your site is modern, responsive, and optimized for performance right out of the box.
4. Flexibility for Growth
Unlike rigid templates from other platforms, Webflow templates are highly customizable. This means you can start small and scale as your business grows.
How to Reskin a Webflow Template
Step 1: Choose the Right Template
Start by browsing Webflow’s extensive template library. Look for a design that closely matches your business needs and desired structure. Consider factors like:
• Industry relevance.
• Layout and navigation style.
• Features like contact forms or galleries.
Step 2: Personalize the Visuals
Swap out generic visuals for ones that represent your brand. This includes uploading your logo, replacing images, and adjusting the color palette.
Step 3: Update the Content
Edit the template’s placeholder text with your own messaging. Ensure your headings, descriptions, and CTAs align with your goals.
Step 4: Add Brand-Specific Features
Enhance the template with features that are unique to your business, such as product showcases, booking forms, or customer testimonials.
Step 5: Optimize for Performance
Make sure your site loads quickly and performs well on all devices. Webflow templates are responsive by default, but optimizing images and reviewing page speed is always a good practice.

A high-performing, visually stunning website launched in just three weeks, all within their budget.

Why Webflow and Framer Are the Future of Website Development: Moving Beyond WordPress
In today’s fast-paced digital world, businesses need websites that are not just functional but also quick to market, easy to maintain, and highly secure. For years, WordPress was the go-to solution, promising flexibility and autonomy. However, the hidden costs, constant maintenance, and frequent security concerns associated with WordPress are making businesses reconsider their choice. At KHULA Design Studio, we've transitioned from WordPress to Webflow and Framer, and here’s why we believe you should too.
Speed to Market
Time is money, especially in the digital realm where getting your website live quickly can be the difference between success and failure. With WordPress, the process of setting up hosting, staging, and version control is cumbersome and often requires a team of specialists. From configuring themes to managing plugins, each step adds to your timeline and costs, slowing down your speed to market.
Webflow and Framer, on the other hand, streamline this process significantly. Both platforms offer built-in hosting and visual editors, allowing you to move from concept to launch in a fraction of the time. With fewer specialists needed and less back-and-forth between design and development teams, you can get your site live faster, reducing overhead and increasing your efficiency.
Seamless Updates and Maintenance
Maintaining a WordPress website can feel like a full-time job. The platform's reliance on third-party plugins means constant updates and the risk of incompatibility issues that can break your site. Each update needs to be carefully tested in a staging environment, adding to your maintenance burden.
Webflow and Framer eliminate these concerns by providing automatic updates with zero downtime. There’s no need to worry about outdated plugins or incompatible themes. Your website is always running the latest version, and you can focus on what matters most—growing your business.
Superior Performance
Website performance is critical to user experience and search engine rankings. WordPress sites often require extensive optimization to achieve high performance, with slow loading times being a common issue due to poorly coded themes and plugins.
Webflow and Framer, however, are built for speed. Webflow optimizes images automatically, and both platforms pre-render pages, which significantly improves load times. Framer, built on React, ensures that your website feels like a single-page application, delivering lightning-fast page transitions. With hosting powered by AWS and a CDN, your content is delivered quickly, no matter where your users are located.
Robust Security
Security is a significant concern for any business, and WordPress’s open-source nature makes it a prime target for hackers. With millions of WordPress sites compromised each year, maintaining the necessary security updates and plugin management can become overwhelming.
Webflow and Framer offer a more secure alternative. Both platforms are closed-source and fully managed, reducing the risk of vulnerabilities. They come with built-in SSL, continuous threat monitoring, and robust protection against DDoS attacks. At KHULA, we’ve never had a Webflow or Framer site compromised—a testament to the platforms' security.
Why Webflow and Framer?
When it comes to building a high-performing, visually appealing website without writing a single line of code, Webflow and Framer are the future. These platforms empower you to control your website, offering a user-friendly experience without sacrificing power or performance. From automatic updates to superior security, they provide everything you need to build, maintain, and scale your online presence.
Whether you’re a startup looking to make your mark or an established business aiming to refine your digital strategy, the switch from WordPress to Webflow or Framer could be the game-changer you’ve been waiting for. At KHULA, we’ve seen firsthand how these platforms can transform a business, making website management simpler, faster, and more secure.
In the ever-evolving digital landscape, staying ahead of the curve is crucial. By choosing Webflow or Framer, you’re not just building a website—you’re investing in the future of your brand.

Why Video Production Studios Must Keep Their Webflow Sites Updated
In today's digital landscape, your website is often the first impression potential clients have of your video production business. As a professional production studio or agency, an up-to-date website is crucial. But for many, the technical aspects of website upkeep can be daunting.
Enter Webflow: a powerful, zero-code site builder that simplifies website creation. However, "no code" doesn't mean "simple," and keeping your Webflow site fresh and functional requires ongoing attention.
The Importance of a modern, up-to-date Webflow website
1. First impressions matter
Your website is a digital storefront. A modern, well-maintained site reflects your professionalism and the quality of your work. Conversely, an outdated site can leave visitors with a poor impression, questioning your attention to detail and relevance in a competitive market.
2. User experience and engagement
An up-to-date website ensures a smooth, engaging user experience. Broken links, outdated content, and slow loading times can frustrate visitors, leading them to leave your site prematurely. Regular updates help maintain a seamless experience, encouraging potential clients to explore your portfolio and services further.
3. SEO and visibility
Search engines favor regularly updated websites. By keeping your Webflow site fresh with new content and updates, you improve your chances of ranking higher in search results. This increased visibility can drive more traffic to your site, ultimately leading to more bookings and business growth.

The importance of reskinning and updating templates
Pre-made templates are a fantastic starting point for many businesses, but to truly make a website their own, your clients often need to personalize and update these templates. Here’s why reskinning and updating are crucial:
1. Unique branding
Every business has its own unique brand identity, and while templates provide a great foundation, they need to be customized to reflect each client’s specific branding. This includes changing colors, fonts, images, and layout elements to align with their brand guidelines.
2. Keeping content fresh
A static website can quickly become outdated. Regularly updating content, images, and layout ensures the site remains engaging and relevant. Fresh content not only keeps visitors interested but also boosts SEO, making the site more discoverable.
3. Adapting to growth
As businesses grow, their website needs evolve. Adding new services, products, or features requires updates to the existing template. A well-maintained and frequently updated site can better support a growing business and meet its changing needs.
4. Enhancing user experience
User expectations are always changing. Regular updates ensure that the website remains user-friendly, fast, and functional. This enhances the user experience, encouraging visitors to stay longer and interact more with the site.
The challenges of DIY updates
While Webflow templates make it easy to get started, updating and reskinning them can be challenging for many clients. The “no code” promise of Webflow doesn’t always translate to simplicity.
Here are some common challenges:
Steep Learning Curve: Understanding how to effectively use Webflow’s powerful tools can take time.

Webflow Template Support Insights: Using Templates to Enhance Small Websites
Building a website can be thrilling, especially when working on a small business or personal project. But let's face it, starting from scratch can be overwhelming. That’s where Webflow templates come to the rescue. These pre-designed layouts make the process smooth and enjoyable, even if you’re not a tech wizard.
Next, we’ll explore how to use Webflow templates effectively. Plus, we’ll cover the essential Webflow template support available when things get tricky. Let’s begin, shall we?
Picking the Perfect Template
The foundation of a great website is a great template. Webflow has a treasure trove of templates for different needs, such as a blog, portfolio, or online store. The trick is to pick one that aligns with your goals.
Think about what you want your website to achieve. Are you showcasing your work, selling products, or sharing your thoughts? Each template is crafted with specific functionalities in mind. Pick one that has the features you need.
Also, consider the design and layout. Choose something that feels like your brand. Starting with a template close to your vision is easier than making drastic changes later.
Don’t skip the reviews and descriptions. They offer valuable insights from other users. You can learn about potential issues and customization with ease. These tips can save you a lot of headaches down the line.
Customizing Your Template
Once you’ve picked a template, it’s time to make it yours. Webflow’s flexible templates allow you to tweak nearly everything to match your brand’s personality.
Start by changing the color scheme. Pick colors that represent your brand and create the mood you want. Webflow’s visual editor makes this process a breeze. Then, update the fonts to match your style. Consistent typography is vital to a professional look.
Replace placeholder content with your own. This includes images, text, and videos. High-quality images and well-crafted copy can make a huge difference. Personal touches make your website unique and engaging. The more authentic your site feels, the better.
Using Built-in Features
Webflow templates come packed with features designed to enhance your site. These tools, from animations to forms, can elevate the user experience and make your site more interactive.
Animations add a dynamic element to your site. They can highlight important sections and make browsing more fun. But use them sparingly. Too many animations can clutter your site and distract visitors from the main content.
Forms are crucial for collecting visitor information. Whether it’s a contact form, a newsletter sign-up, or feedback, Webflow makes it easy to integrate these. Ensure your forms are user-friendly and attractive.
SEO tools are another gem. Webflow helps you optimize your site for search engines, making it easier for people to find you. Use these tools to add meta titles, descriptions, and alt texts for images. A well-optimized site attracts more visitors and boosts your online presence.
Testing and Refining Your Site
Before you hit publish, it’s essential to test your site thoroughly. This ensures everything works as it should and provides a smooth experience for your visitors.
Check how your site looks on different devices. Webflow templates are responsive, but it’s always good to test. Make sure your site looks great on desktops, tablets, and smartphones. This way, you cater to all visitors, regardless of their device.
Test all interactive elements, such as links, buttons, and forms. Ensure they function correctly and lead to the right places. Broken links and non-functional forms can frustrate users and make your site look unprofessional.
Ask friends or colleagues for feedback. They can offer a fresh perspective and spot areas for improvement. Sometimes, minor tweaks can make a big difference.
Getting the Most from Webflow Template Support
If you hit a snag, Webflow template support is available to help. They offer a range of resources and assistance to guide you through any challenges. Start with the documentation provided with your template. It’s packed with instructions and common troubleshooting tips. Often, your issue has already been addressed.
Also, join the Webflow community forums. They’re a great place to ask questions and get advice from other users. The community is active and supportive, making it a valuable resource.
Lastly, don’t hesitate to contact Webflow’s customer support for more complex issues. They can offer guidance specific to your template. Using these resources can save you time and frustration.
Partnering with Khula Studio
Sometimes, a template alone isn’t enough. That’s where Khula Studio comes in. We specialize in brand refreshes, helping small business owners and solopreneurs create standout websites.
At Khula Studio, our process is simple. We start by diving deep into your business and industry. This helps us understand your goals and the message you want to convey. Then, we design and build your brand and Webflow website—fast and efficiently.
We ensure your brand image is visually appealing, attracting and retaining customers. We test, refine, and launch your site, making sure you’re proud of and fully own it. Working with us means getting a custom solution beyond what a standard template can offer.

Why Does Every Small to Mid-Sized Business Need Proper Webflow Support?
Websites are today's digital storefronts. For small to mid-sized businesses, having a killer website isn't just a nice-to-have; it’s essential. Enter, a top-tier website builder known for its versatility and ease of use.
But here’s the catch: even the best tools can hit snags. That’s where Webflow support comes into play. You don’t want your site to glitch when you’re about to make a great impression. Good Webflow support can make all the difference between a smooth, polished online presence and a frustrating experience.
Ready to find out why Webflow support is a game-changer? Let’s dive into the key reasons why your business needs it.
Enhancing Website Performance
Website performance is everything. If your site takes ages to load, visitors will bounce faster than you can say “refresh.” Proper Webflow support ensures your site runs like a well-oiled machine.
Speed matters. Webflow support can help you optimize your site’s speed by compressing images, streamlining code, and ensuring you’re using the best hosting options. Visitors stay longer when your site loads quickly and are more likely to engage with your content.
Performance isn’t just about speed, though. It’s about reliability. Imagine your site going down during a big sale or a significant promotion. Webflow support can help prevent downtime by troubleshooting issues before they become major problems. With expert support, you can keep your site running smoothly and avoid those heart-stopping moments when things go wrong.
Improving User Experience
User experience (UX) can make or break your website. A well-designed site is not only visually appealing but also easy to navigate. Webflow is excellent for creating stunning designs, but seamless UX requires more than good looks.
Proper Webflow support can help you understand user behavior and design a site that meets their needs. They can guide you on best practices for layout, navigation, and interactivity. A good UX keeps visitors engaged, encourages them to explore your site, and leads to higher conversion rates.
Support teams can also help you test and refine your site. They can identify pain points and suggest improvements by analyzing user data and feedback. This continuous improvement process ensures your site remains user-friendly and practical.
Maximizing SEO Potential
Search engine optimization (SEO) is crucial for driving traffic to your site. Webflow offers various SEO tools, but knowing how to use them effectively is key. Webflow support can help you maximize your SEO potential.
SEO isn’t just about keywords. It’s about making your site easy for search engines to crawl and index. Webflow support can assist with technical SEO aspects like sitemap creation, meta tags, and image alt text. They can also help you structure your content in a way search engines love.
Additionally, Webflow support can keep you updated on the latest SEO trends and algorithm changes. With their help, you can adapt your strategy to stay ahead of the competition and maintain a solid online presence.
Enhancing Security
Website security is non-negotiable. A security breach can damage your reputation and cost you dearly. Webflow has robust security features, but utilizing them to their fullest potential requires expertise.
Webflow support can help you implement and maintain strong security measures. They can guide you on best practices for protecting your site from threats like malware and hacking attempts. With proper support, you can ensure that your site’s data, as well as your customers’ data, is safe and secure.
Security isn’t a one-time setup. It requires ongoing monitoring and updates. Webflow support can monitor your site’s security and address vulnerabilities as they arise. This proactive approach helps prevent issues before they become serious problems.
Saving Time and Resources
As a small to mid-sized business owner, your time is precious. There are better uses of your resources than spending hours troubleshooting website issues. This is where Webflow support shines.
Proper support can save you countless hours by handling technical issues and providing expert advice. You can focus on running your business instead of figuring out why your site isn’t working. Webflow support acts as an extension of your team, offering the technical expertise you need without the overhead of hiring full-time staff.
In addition, Webflow support can help you get the most out of the platform. They can provide training and resources to help you and your team become more proficient with Webflow. This empowers you to make updates and changes confidently, knowing you have the backup you need.

7 Pro Tips for Effective Webflow Maintenance on Your Website
Maintaining your Webflow website is crucial for its success. Webflow's user-friendly platform lets you create stunning sites without coding, but regular upkeep ensures smooth operation, security, and ongoing business success. Imagine your beautifully designed site: fast and engaging. Yet, over time, issues like broken links and slow performance arise.
Effective Webflow maintenance addresses these problems, keeps your site updated, and boosts user experience and search engine rankings. Here are some pro tips to keep your Webflow website in peak condition. Let’s take a look, shall we?
1. Regularly Update Content and Design
Fresh, relevant content is a must. Outdated information can turn visitors away and hurt your search engine rankings. Make it a habit to review and update your content regularly. This includes blog posts, product descriptions, and other written materials. Ensure everything reflects your latest offerings and industry trends.
Design updates matter, too. Web design trends change frequently, and an outdated look can make your site appear unprofessional. Regularly assess design elements like color schemes, fonts, and layouts. Minor tweaks can keep your site looking modern and engaging.
Beyond aesthetics, consider user experience. Ensure your site is easy to navigate and that critical information is readily accessible. A well-maintained website doesn’t just look good; it provides a seamless experience for visitors.
2. Check for Broken Links and Images
Broken links and missing images frustrate visitors and damage your credibility. Regularly scan your site for broken links and fix them quickly. This will help users navigate your site smoothly and help them find the necessary information.
Images are crucial to your site’s visual appeal. Ensure all photos load correctly and replace any broken ones. Regular checks can significantly enhance the user experience. Various tools can help automate checking for broken links and images, saving you time and ensuring no issues go unnoticed.
3. Optimize Website Performance
Website performance is crucial for user satisfaction and search engine ranking. Slow-loading pages can drive visitors away and hurt your SEO. Regularly monitor performance and make adjustments to improve load times.
One easy way to boost performance is by optimizing images. Large files can slow down your site, so make sure all images are compressed and optimized for the web. Tools are available to help with this without sacrificing quality.
Consider using a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to improve load times for global visitors. A CDN stores copies of your site on servers worldwide, reducing data travel distance and speeding up load times.
4. Ensure Website Security
Security is non-negotiable. Regularly update your Webflow site to protect it from vulnerabilities. This includes updating any third-party integrations and plugins. Outdated software can be an easy target for hackers, so always keep everything current.
Implement strong security practices. Use unique, strong passwords for all accounts linked to your site and change them regularly. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for extra security.
Regularly back up your site to ensure quick recovery from potential security breaches or data loss. A recent backup can save you a lot of time and stress in case of an issue.
5. Monitor Analytics and User Feedback
Understanding user interaction with your site offers valuable insights for maintenance and improvement. Regularly monitor analytics to track key metrics like page views, bounce rates, and user behavior. This data helps identify areas needing improvement and measure the success of your efforts.
User feedback is gold. Encourage visitors to share their experiences through surveys, feedback forms, or direct communication. Use this feedback to make informed decisions about updates and improvements.
Pay close attention to common issues and suggestions. Addressing user feedback shows you value your visitors' opinions and are committed to providing a positive experience.
6. Test Responsiveness on Multiple Devices
Your website needs to look and perform well on all devices. Regularly test your Webflow site on various screen sizes, from desktops to smartphones. This ensures a consistent and enjoyable user experience, no matter how visitors access your site.
Start by checking for design elements that might not translate well on smaller screens. Adjust font sizes, button placements, and images to ensure they look good and function properly on mobile devices.
In addition, pay attention to load times on different devices. Mobile users often have less patience for slow-loading sites. Optimizing performance across all devices can improve user satisfaction and retention. Regularly testing responsiveness can prevent issues before they impact your visitors, keeping your website professional and accessible.
7. Leverage Professional Help
Maintaining a website can be overwhelming, especially when running a business. This is where professional help comes in. Khula Studio specializes in brand refreshes and Webflow maintenance. We understand the importance of a well-maintained website and offer services to keep your site in top condition.
Our process is straightforward. We start by understanding your business and industry and creating a tailored maintenance plan. We handle everything from design updates to performance optimization and security enhancements.

Conclusion

Keep your website fresh, secure, and high-performing, and watch your online presence thrive.

Transform Online Presence: Switch from WordPress to Webflow
In this article, we delve into a critical decision many solopreneurs face: the switch from a WordPress to a Webflow site. This change can seem daunting, but it can potentially revolutionize your online presence. We invite you to explore the reasons and benefits behind making this pivotal transition. Let's embark on this informative exploration together.
Ease of Use and Learning Curve
Transitioning from WordPress to Webflow offers a more intuitive design experience for solopreneurs. While versatile, WordPress often requires plugins and themes to achieve desired results, which can lead to a steep learning curve for those not versed in web development.
Webflow, on the other hand, simplifies the process. Its visual editor allows for direct manipulation of design elements, making it easier for users to achieve their vision without needing to understand code.
Moreover, Webflow provides a streamlined workflow. From design to launch, everything is managed within one platform. This integration reduces the complexity and time required to manage a website, a significant advantage for solopreneurs already pressed for time.
Customization and Design Flexibility
One key reason to switch from WordPress to Webflow is the unparalleled customization and design flexibility Webflow offers. WordPress templates, though numerous, often lock users into specific design patterns. Customizing these patterns without coding knowledge can be limiting and frustrating.
Webflow empowers users to create unique, custom designs without writing a single line of code. Its powerful design tools support solopreneurs in crafting a brand identity that stands out. This level of customization ensures that your website reflects your business's unique value proposition, an essential factor in today's competitive online marketplace.
Improved Site Performance
Site performance is a critical aspect of user experience and SEO. Switching from WordPress to Webflow can significantly enhance your website's loading times and overall performance. WordPress sites, particularly those heavy with plugins, can become bloated and slow. This sluggishness affects user satisfaction and can harm your search engine rankings.
Webflow, in contrast, optimizes website performance from the ground up. It automatically generates clean and efficient code, leading to faster loading times. For solopreneurs, this means improved user engagement, reduced bounce rates, and better SEO results, driving more traffic to your site.
Enhanced Security
Security is a paramount concern for any online business. WordPress, due to its popularity, is a frequent target for hackers. Maintaining security on a WordPress site requires regular updates and monitoring, which can be burdensome for solopreneurs.
Switching to Webflow offers enhanced security with less hassle. Webflow hosts sites on a secure, managed environment, reducing the risk of attacks. Automatic updates and backups further safeguard your site, providing peace of mind and allowing you to focus on growing your business.
Streamlined Content Management
Content is king in the digital world, and managing it effectively can be a game-changer for solopreneurs. WordPress is known for its robust content management capabilities, but it can be overkill for more straightforward sites. Additionally, navigating its backend to update content can be cumbersome.
Webflow presents a more streamlined content management experience. Its user-friendly Editor interface allows easy updates without diving into the backend. This simplicity saves time and makes content management a breeze, enabling solopreneurs to keep their sites fresh and engaging with minimal effort.
SEO Advantages
SEO is vital for any online business looking to attract and retain customers. The switch from WordPress to Webflow can offer SEO advantages that are hard to ignore. Webflow's clean code and fast-loading pages contribute to better search engine rankings. Additionally, its design flexibility allows for mobile-optimized sites, a crucial factor in SEO.
Webflow also provides easy-to-use SEO tools, enabling solopreneurs to optimize their content without needing external plugins or extensive SEO knowledge. This integration streamlines the process, making achieving and maintaining high search engine rankings easier.
Cost-Effectiveness
Lastly, cost is a significant consideration for solopreneurs. While WordPress might seem inexpensive initially, premium plugins, themes, and hosting services can quickly add up. Moreover, hiring developers for customization can further increase expenses.
Webflow, while offering a different pricing structure, can be more cost-effective in the long run. Its all-in-one platform eliminates the need for multiple subscriptions and services. Additionally, the ability to design and manage your site independently reduces the need for expensive developer services, making it a financially savvy choice for solopreneurs.
Conclusion
The decision to switch from a WordPress to a Webflow site is not one to take lightly. However, the transition can be incredibly beneficial for solopreneurs looking to streamline their workflow, enhance their website's performance, and gain a competitive edge.
Webflow offers a unique blend of ease of use, design flexibility, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness, making it an excellent choice for solopreneurs ready to take their online presence to the next level.

Why Webflow
WHAT IS WEBFLOW?
A brand is much bigger than a logo, name, slogan, or even the product or service itself — it’s a promise. It encompasses everything that you do — from the messages you deliver, to the experience you provide your target audience.
A solid brand strategy helps to lay the foundation for everything else that you do. A brand strategy will help you truly differentiate your product or service in the market, craft messaging that appeals to the right people at the right time, and will help ensure that your brand identity truly represents who you are, what you do, and the value that you bring to your consumers.
Brand positioning is one component of brand strategy that is extremely important for businesses. You’re probably wondering, what is brand positioning and how will it benefit my business?
WHY MIGRATE TO WEBFLOW?
Webflow outperforms other CMS systems in a number of ways and it’s rapidly being adopted by companies that want to define their online image, build it out quickly, and reap the benefits of a site built to support their future.
One of the key principles behind Webflow is that it gives users more control. It strips away the need for high-level technical ability and replaces it with an intuitive visual platform that anyone can work with. Think about it — not only can you maintain your own site, quickly and easily, you don’t have to pay someone else to do it. That means no more time spent liaising with contractors or waiting for changes and signoff. You have all the power.
That increased control is paired with top-level speed. Webflow websites are hosted and backed by AWS so you’re pretty much guaranteed to have the best loading speeds in any region. In case you didn’t know, Webflow includes CDN, Cloud Distribution Network, as standard and Webflow’s uptime is also 99.99% and because it’s serverless there’s never any downtime for server updates — that’s a bonus.
Unlike other platforms such as WordPress, Webflow comes with everything you need to design and build your site just the way you want. No premium plugins that add to your overheads and slow your site down — everything is there for you from day one.
Finally, security is taken care of with enterprise-level controls such as Two-factor authentication and role-based permissions. As the cherry on top, every site hosted on Webflow comes with a free SSL certificate which also helps with your search rankings.
HOW CAN WEBFLOW IMPACT YOUR BUSINESS?
When it comes to marketing assets, there’s nothing more powerful than your company website. It’s a window into your world, a critical touchpoint for your brand, and the first place most customers go to learn more about who you are, and what you do. Running your website should be simple, easy-to-do, and cost-effective, without the need to put in a call to a local developer every time you need something updated or fixed. That’s why migrating to Webflow, an all-in-one no-code platform, is a complete game changer for your business. You can make live, on-page edits on the fly through the frontend, and maintain your website with ease through a powerful CMS and super intuitive backend. No additional development time needed.
You might think that these days, the market is crowded with no-code and low-code website builders. And you’d be right. They all do pretty much the same things, they work in similar ways, and they each help designers create beautiful-looking web pages. There’s also no question that a good designer can take any website building tool and make something beautiful out of it. But what happens when they hand it over to the client? How easy is it to maintain? With over 3.5 million users, Webflow is a robust platform on which you and your team can collaborate, design, and scale beautiful and functional websites in no time. The good news is that maintaining a professional website in Webflow requires little to no technical knowledge, so you and your marketing team have more time for work which adds greater business value. So ultimately, you and your team can focus on what they do best and let the tool do the rest.

Guide to Successful WordPress to Webflow Migration
With an increasing number of businesses and individual developers expressing interest in this transition, understanding the intricacies of the process becomes essential. If you've found yourself contemplating this switch, or if your website design agency is gearing up for a change, this guide aims to be your go-to resource, ensuring the shift is not only informed but also smooth and hassle-free.
Contemplating the Switch from WordPress to Webflow? Here's Why and How
When it comes to the web development world, change is one of its few constants. As the digital realm advances, the tools and platforms that serve it need to evolve as well. One such noteworthy shift in preference is from the tried-and-true WordPress to the emergent contender, Webflow. But what's prompting this change? Let's delve deeper.
Reasons to Embrace Webflow:
User Experience
At the heart of Webflow's growing popularity is its user-centric approach. With an interface that's both intuitive and flexible, it becomes a boon for entities, especially for a website design agency. The platform encourages creativity without the baggage of intricate coding.
No More Plugin Dependence
WordPress users are all too familiar with the necessity of plugins to enhance site functionality. In contrast, Webflow equips users with a suite of in-built tools, eliminating the need for external plugins.
Peak Performance
Speed and responsiveness aren't just buzzwords—they're pillars of a successful website. Webflow-based sites often outpace their WordPress counterparts in both these aspects, ensuring users and search engines are equally pleased.
Your Roadmap to Migrate:
Switching platforms might initially seem like climbing a mountain, but with the right path laid out, it becomes a walk in the park.
- Backup is Your Best Friend: Begin by backing up your WordPress site. It's the safety blanket you'll be thankful for if any hiccups arise during the transition.
- Seamless Content Transfer: Use WordPress's 'Tools' section to 'Export' your content into an XML file. Fortuitously, Webflow offers a hassle-free content import feature to integrate this data smoothly.
- A Fresh Take on Design: While direct theme transfers aren't possible given the architectural differences between WordPress and Webflow, this is a golden opportunity. Allow your website design agency to rethink, reinvigorate, and re-implement a more captivating design on Webflow.
- Guard Your SEO Efforts: By redirecting old WordPress URLs to their new Webflow counterparts, you ensure that the SEO juice accumulated over the years isn't lost in the transition.
- The Final Litmus Test: Prior to taking your Webflow site live, engage in rigorous testing. This includes ensuring all content renders as expected, verifying that links lead where they should, and confirming that integrations seamlessly sync.
- Pro Tips for a Polished Migration
- Harness Expertise: If doubts cloud your migration plans, rope in a seasoned website design agency with migration experience. Their guidance can be the beacon you need.
- Keep SEO in Sight: Once you've migrated, execute a detailed SEO analysis to ensure your Webflow site retains the SEO strength and stature of its WordPress predecessor.
- Backup Routines are Vital: Akin to WordPress, it's paramount to establish regular backup protocols for your Webflow site, shielding you from potential future digital hitches.
In embracing change, it's vital to be equipped with the right knowledge and tools. With this guide in hand, your transition from WordPress to Webflow promises to be both informed and efficient.

10 Reasons To Migrate To Webflow in 2024
Why Your Website Builder Matters
Clients almost never ask us: why Webflow? And who can blame them? At the end of the day, what difference does our choice of website builder make to their website project?
Quite a lot as it happens.
So ultimately, you and your team can focus on what they do best.
Why Migrate To Webflow?
Let’s be honest, as a Webflow Professional Partner, of course we’re going to be singing its praises, right? The important thing for our clients is why. More specifically, why Webflow?
Here are 10 reasons why we recommend our clients migrate to Webflow:
1. Drag And Drop Simplicity
As a design studio serving small businesses owners, and solopreneurs, we want the best and most sustainable solutions for our clients. So we need web building software that’s streamlined, fast, efficient, and powerful enough to create professional-looking sites.
At the same time, once we hand it over, we don’t want our clients to get stuck down a rabbit hole of technical know-how and YouTube guides every time they need to update their website. With Webflow, they can simply drag and drop cleanly-coded HTML elements into the design, and style them.
For us, the real beauty of Webflow is that it once we’ve built the site, it’s simple for our clients to makes updates and maintain it themselves — no technical knowledge or coding skills required. So there’s also no need for them to hire an external contractor to handle ongoing maintenance, and no lengthy processes for getting changes signed-off.
Through a drag and drop visual canvas, you can custom design the dream website you’ve always wanted. In Webflow, you can easily add animations, interactions — even 3D transforms — without writing code. You can also bring in features like customizable forms, tab components, dropdown menus, background videos, HTML/CSS carousels and sliders, simple social sharing all from an intuitive no-code interface.
But these aren’t the only reasons why we recommend migrating to Webflow.
2. It’s Almost Unbreakable
Webflow’s intuitive design tools keep everything simple and safe — so nothing gets easily broken. It’s perfect for when clients need to start building-out content without bringing down their entire site.
For both our clients and us, there’s peace of mind that they can mess around with their site in a controlled environment — without worrying about breaking it. That’s all thanks to Webflow’s Staging Environment and Editor Mode, which also allows users to easily manage collections of content — such as blog posts and case studies.
Using Webflow CMS, it’s also easy to control which elements can be customized in order to prevent any unwanted breakages. Not only that, it automatically backups your website as well as saving the current version of your website whenever you restore a previous one.
With automatic site backups, or versioning, you can restore a change at the click of a button. Just in case.
3. Creativity Over Coding
If you have difficulty visualizing your future website by scanning through lines of code — join the club. Like many of our clients, our designers prefer to work visually without getting bogged down in complex coding.
For us, it means we can iterate faster in the development stage and make changes with instant visible feedback. There’s no need to code, save, and refresh on repeat.
For our clients, this means they don’t need to learn an entirely new skill set or programming language to simply update something on their site or build out content.
Best of all, we can all spend less time on the technical side and more time getting creative with content. Without having to log into the backend of your Webflow account, you can update text and images in seconds — and even your CMS content — while live on the site.
4. Stability And Reliability
If you’re someone who’s been running an older website or using less advanced web builders, you’ll be familiar with the false hope and general frustration caused by plug-ins.
Whilst on first impressions they seem to offer an answer to all your website woes, it quickly becomes apparent that plug-ins almost have a mind of their own, and need constant updating in order to run smoothly.
Often unpredictable and unstable, plug-ins need micromanaging, taking up valuable time that most of our busy clients simply don’t have. Not only that, a poorly performing plugin can lead to a negative user experience and cause untold damage to a company’s brand.
Webflow is an all-in-one solution — so there are no client-facing plugins — giving you complete reassurance and your website the stability it needs.
5. Peace Of Mind Over Security
When a website is running multiple plugins, each one comes with its own security risks. Unlike some of its competitors, Webflow alleviates potential holes in plug-in security by integrating core functionality like CMS, SEO, and forms. In addition, it only allows integrations with reputable companies who have their own high standards of security.
Webflow also locks down non-public data, through industry-standard SSL Encryption. Each Webflow site has an SSL certificate visible to users, making it safe for them to sign-in and share personal data, without risk. For complete peace of mind, all Webflow data has end-to-end encryption.
And that’s not all. Webflow provides two-factor authentication for the personal account where your website lives, as well as a choice of site-wide or per-page password protection to avoid authorized changes to content. You can even setup client log-ins with access rights to their private data.
Running in AWS (Amazon Web Services), Webflow provides protection against cyberattacks and security threats as standard. And for complete peace of mind, compliance with SOC 2 (Service Organization Control 2) recognizes a full third-party audit of Webflow’s security practices.
6. Edit On The Fly
A common concern for many small businesses and solopreneurs is how easy it is to keep their site updated once we hand it over to them.
In an always-on world, it’s important to be able to update and evolve your website quickly and easily. With Webflow Editor, there’s no need to go into the backend to make on site changes to copy and visual elements.
Webflow removes the technical barriers so that you can make edits right there on the page, through the frontend, without delving into the backend CMS or a complicated dashboard. Simply visit your site, sign into Webflow CMS, and start editing.
It really is a case of making the changes, seeing what they’ll look like, and when you’re happy, clicking to publish. Webflow streamlines your editing process, and you can even use access controls to prevent unauthorized edits, and facilitate an approvals process before edits go live.

A Step-By-Step Plan For Migrating Your Website To Webflow?
Migrating Your Website To Webflow?
Our Step-By-Step Plan To Make Sure It's Successful.
Every website will face a migration at some point. It's inevitable. The thought of moving your website, daunting as it may be, isn't the issue. The bigger question is why you have to migrate it in the first place. That's where the headache begins. Because each situation is different and requires a unique approach and specific planning strategy to ensure the transition is successful without disrupting your online presence. Or worse, losing data and encountering SEO problems.
Yikes! It's a lot to think about.
Luckily, there are a few ways you can approach it without losing everything along the way, including your mind. It's all about having a good plan in place. You want a smooth transition. Most businesses can't afford to have their website offline for any reason. But before you jump into putting a migration plan in place, the first step is to identify why a move is necessary.
Here are the top reasons you may need to migrate your website.
Improved Performance: Slow loading times, frequent downtime, or limited resources on your current hosting provider can negatively impact user experience and SEO rankings. Migrating to a faster, more reliable hosting environment can significantly improve website performance.
Enhanced Security: Security breaches, vulnerabilities, or outdated software on your current hosting or CMS can jeopardize your website's data and users' information. Migrating to a more secure platform or infrastructure can bolster your website's defenses against threats.
Platform Upgrade: Upgrading to a newer version of your CMS or switching to a different CMS can provide access to advanced features, better security, and improved ease of use. This can help you stay competitive and maintain a modern website.
Rebranding and Redesign: When undergoing a rebranding effort or updating your website's design, migration is often necessary to align your online presence with your new brand identity or design standards.
Scalability: As your website grows in popularity and user traffic, your current hosting or infrastructure may need to be improved. Migrating to a more scalable platform ensures your website can handle increased demands and continue to perform well as it expands.
At KHULA™, we do many rebranding projects, and Webflow often fits their needs, which is why we recommend it every time. It's easy to use and provides flexibility that many platforms don't. But before we make the transition for them, we always ensure there's a solid plan in place to keep things running smoothly.
Moving a website isn't easy, but if you're up for the challenge, we recommend following this Webflow Migration Plan.
1. Assess Your Current Website:
Review your existing website to understand its structure, content, and functionality. Take note of all the pages, media assets, and features you want to migrate.
2. Create a Webflow Account:
If you don't already have one, sign up for a Webflow account at https://webflow.com/signup
"or chat to us and we'll help you get started ;)"
3. Plan Your New Webflow Website:
Create a sitemap (information architecture) to outline your website's pages and hierarchy. You can do this in excel or there are some nice fancy tools out there you can use to create this with.
4. Set Up Hosting:
Webflow offers hosting services. You can either host your website with Webflow. Choose the hosting option that suits your needs.
5. Design Your Website:
Use Webflow's visual designer to recreate your website's design. You can use a Webflow template and purchase development hours (a DIY approach) or we can help you with a custom website design approach in Figma by creating your UX/UI design for each page from scratch.
6. Build Pages:
Build the pages of your new website in Webflow. Use the Webflow Designer to add elements, text, images, and other content to each page. Our dev team can you build out the site according to your existing design files or ours.
7. Copy and Paste Content:
If you're only migrating a few pieces of content from the old site, you can manually copy and paste that across or you can export your data from your old site into a .csv file and easily import this data into Webflow's powerful CMS and map the fields accordingly. Then fix the formatting of the content.
8. Rebuild Features and Functionality:
If your old website had specific features or functionality (e.g., contact forms, e-commerce, animations), recreate them using Webflow's built-in tools or custom code.
9. Set Up SEO:
Configure SEO settings for your Webflow website, including meta titles, descriptions, and alt tags for images. This is crucial to maintain or improve your search engine rankings.
10. Test and Optimize:
Thoroughly test your website on different devices and browsers to ensure it looks and functions correctly. Optimize page load times and performance.
11. Set Up Redirects:
If you're changing URLs or restructuring your website, set up 301 redirects from your old URLs to the new ones in Webflow. This preserves SEO rankings and user experience.
12. Migrate Forms and Integrations:
If your old website used forms or integrated with third-party services (e.g. email marketing, CRM, Google Analytics, GTM scripts, etc), ensure these are integrated with your new Webflow site.
13. Backup Your Old Website:
Before making any changes, back up your old website files and databases, this is a precaution if you need to revert to your old site.
14. Launch Your Webflow Website:
Once you're satisfied with the new site and have thoroughly tested it, update your DNS records to point to Webflow's hosting servers. This makes your Webflow site live.
15. Monitor and Maintain:
After the migration, monitor your website for any issues, such as broken links or missing functionality. Continue to update and optimize your site as needed. "We also do a few post SEO adjustments that help your site get noticed on SERP — this forms part of our comprehensive go-live checklist."
16. Inform Stakeholders:
Notify your team, clients, and users about the migration and any potential downtime. Provide them with information on how to contact support if they encounter issues.
If you know you need to migrate your website but are still determining if you want to tackle the transition, we can guide you through the process. We love helping clients get the most out of their websites while enjoying the ease and functionality of Webflow.

Webflow vs WordPress: Switch to No-Code in 2023
Webflow vs WordPress
If you’re a developer — and even if you’re not — you’ll probably have heard a million different reasons for and against building your website in various programs.
While Squarespace, Wix, GoDaddy etc are easy enough to use for the novice entrepreneur, if you’re a semi-pro at site building, chances are you’ll be all over WordPress.
We were too — for a long time. But then we discovered Webflow. We haven’t looked back since.
Why? Funny you should ask…
It’s not that we hate WordPress, But...
Now, before we get into the benefits of Webflow and what makes this platform SO amazing, we just want to say that we don’t hate WordPress or think everyone with a WordPress site should ditch it and start over.
It has a place in the here and now. It all depends on what you or your clients are looking for and what your goals are for your website and online presence.
Yes, Wordpress is a free hosting platform BUT after creating dozens of sites in WordPress, we are no longer fans bois and girlz here at KHULA™.
The countless plugins required to get something done (which slows down your site), combined with complicated backends with messy code, alongside an ever-increasing array of templates and themes that feel old, square, and just plain blocky-looking just ain’t cutting it for us anymore.
WTF is Webflow?
In a nutshell, Webflow empowers users to build professional websites in a completely visual canvas — without any coding knowledge.
Initially Webflow was created for designers, but now it boasts an array of features and easy building content elements which allows almost anyone with a bit of tech savvy to build out a custom website.
Similar to Squarespace and Wix, Webflow’s ‘backend mode’ (as they refer to it) works in a drag and drop fashion. However, it offers a lot more flexibility and functionality.
What's nice is that each Webflow site is still built on a clean, semantic HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript code — so if you are a full stack developer you have the option to add more advanced features and elements — making this building platform's abilities almost limitless.
Here are just some of Webflow's features and benefits
- A powerful CMS that lets you build completely custom databases for dynamic content types – including online stores
- Easily create immersive interactions and animations
- Webflow hosting is fast! It’s powered by Amazon Web Services, built to scale — on the same network as Netflix, Pinterest, Airbnb, Slack, and Adobe.
- 99.9% uptime, so you don’t have to worry about your site going down
- Zero maintenance: no updates to run, packages/plugins to install, or headaches to deal with
- Built-in SEO tools make it easy to improve your SEO score and ranking – such as metadata controls, automatic XML sitemaps, easy 301 redirects, and canonical tags
- Flexible integrations allow you to connect your marketing tools with built-in integrations and custom code
- Easy content updates. Change content, update images, and upload content to the CMS directly on the site through Webflow’s “Editor” mode.
- Complete freedom of design and layout customization
- Secure website browsing (Free SSL Certificate & end-to-end encryption) – no plugin required.
- Design and develop at the same time
- Easily add background images and videos
- Responsive design for any screen size or device – for laptop, desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Easily add Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, or Google Verification script
- Automatic backups of your site and restore it with one click of a button
- Easily upgrade your hosting package – making your website scalable and future-proof
And lastly, Webflow is completely FREE until you’re ready to launch. Build your site, take as long as you need, and pay when you’re done (no trial needed here).
Want more pages? Just add a site plan and connect a custom domain when you’re ready to unleash your new site to the world. Oh, and GoDaddy seamlessly integrates with Webflow which makes connecting your domain so very easy — no messing around with DNS settings!

At KHULA™, we only build in Webflow
Why? Well, after building a bunch of sites for our clients – ranging from individual startups to small enterprises – we noticed that Webflow had the edge in a number of areas:
- It offer super fast development turnaround time (normally 2 to 4 weeks depending on scope)
- It allows our clients to fully manage and maintain their own website once built – meaning they have complete access, and can change/add new content whenever they want
- It enables clients to create effective custom marketing landing pages faster too — without them needing to contact us.
- Clients can bring us in to support their efforts on an ad-hoc basis – to make larger changes or updates that require more advanced dev knowledge.
In short, once their site is built, Webflow puts our clients in the driving seat on the frontend stuff – which they love – and means our involvement remains on the bigger infrastructural aspects of their site.
In this way, clients get 100% peace of mind and 100% own everything – including the domain and website hosting.
Why Migrate to Webflow
Here are 10 reasons why you should migrate to Webflow.
Here is what our clients have to say about working with us:

We worked as a collaborative team, being kept on task by Jamie who was pushing the quality and timeliness of all the deliverables. I would highly recommend KHULA™, Jamie and his team." — Mark Rowan, CEO at Data Sentinel

Creating Accessible Webflow Sites: Why It Matters
The issue of website accessibility has been growing rapidly.
We recently came across a powerful tool that is quick to implement, thorough, effective, and affordable. While we've developed our sites with best practices towards accessibility, websites are not static, and the laws around accessibility are always evolving, this method ensures ongoing accessibility remediation without constant evaluation and re-development time.
So what's going on legally?
Around the world, governments are creating legislations regarding website accessibility. Most notably the The Accessible Canada Act (ACA), The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), The Americans with disabilities act, section 508 in America and EN301549 in Europe. These leave businesses without an accessible website to face repercussions from the Government.
What is Accessible?
Web accessibility is given people with motor impairments, limited or no vision, epilepsy, color blindness, cognitive impairments and more to customize their experience and access the full suite of your site and services. For example, having proper alt text on images on your site allow blind users to properly understand the image by reading out a description of the contents.
How can you benefit from accessibility?
There are many benefits to having an accessible website. First, of course, mitigating the risk of receiving formal complaints of the accessibility of your site. Second, opening your business to about 25% of the population that is currently living with a disability that makes internet usage either difficult or impossible without the use of assistive technology. Third, accessibility and SEO go hand in hand so having an accessible website can increase the organic traffic to your website and give you more opportunities for new business. People with disabilities are very brand loyal and are likely to continue to visit sites that are accessible to them. Lastly, from a branding standpoint having an accessible website shows you value inclusivity and diversity and have taken action to prove it.
How can we help?
We recently partnered with accessiBe to provide you with the worlds #1 accessibility solution on the market. They use an AI-automated system that can achieve full accessibility compliance within 48 hours and provides 24/7 automatic maintenance. This is by far the most simple, automated and affordable solution that we have found. After reviewing their system and testing it on our own website, we have decided to offer the same solution to all of our clients.
Here is a link to their website, you can create an account and set yourself up for success moving forward or you can respond to this email and we will take care of it for you on your behalf. Please let me know if you are interested in implementing this plugin. Ensuring your site is in compliance, and not a target, is important both for your legal security and from the perspective of dignity and human rights - it's important that we all, regardless of disability, have equitable access to the web.

Quick accessibility things you implement in the meantime
To start, here are some quick things you can do to ensure your Webflow site is accessible. These are just some of the many things we need to do, hence why accessiBe can do this and so much more just by simply adding in a script to your site. But, let's take a look at some of quick fixes:
Use clear, descriptive and sequential headings
Don't make it hard for people with cognitive disabilities and those who use screen readers to understand the content flow of your website pages. Your headings, if structured correctly, should make it easy to skim a page and get a clear purpose and overview of content without having to ready body copy.
- Use one H1 per page that describes it's purpose.
- Nest headings in order as much as possible (H3 under H2)
Apply recommended color contract ratios
Sufficient color contrast between text and background improves the experience and legibility on your site for everyone, especially for people with vision impairments. WCAG offers suggested ratios
Include alt text for every important image
Alt text (or alternative text) is a short written description of an image that is read or displayed in place of images, which helps site visitors make sense of that image when it can’t be viewed. With accessiBe, whats nice it is automatically reads the image and contents within it and describes it as if you have added a custom alt. attribute. With this tool, you don't have to worry about adding these in for every single image uploaded.
But it's important, here are some guidelines for alt text:
- Include alt text for every important image you upload (including logos)
- Write a concise description that calls out important visual features
- Avoid repeating surrounding text
- Leave out the words "image" or "picture"
- Add a space in the alt field for purely decorative images so the screen reader doesn't announce it
Use meaningful button and link names
Screen readers can give visitors an overview of all the links on a page. When links are read out of context in a list, it's important they tell readers:
- What the link is
- Where it’s taking them
When we design and build websites, it's important to include everyone, not just your ideal customer. Making your Webflow website accessible is the most important piece of the puzzle and we, as Webflow developers, need to make this apart of our go-live checklist.

10 Reasons To Migrate To Webflow in 2023
Why Your Website Builder Matters
Clients almost never ask us: why Webflow? And who can blame them? At the end of the day, what difference does our choice of website builder make to their website project?
Quite a lot as it happens.

7. Post Content With No Fuss
With Webflow CMS Template, it’s easy to update and create blogs, articles, podcasts, team members and any content driven information. In fact, once you’ve crafted your content, adding it to your site is as easy as filling out a form.
There are two ways to do this: on-page editing and Collections. Collections just means content types, and you can either edit existing ones or create your own in Webflow Designer.
To edit on-page, you simply launch Webflow CMS and your website, click the text you want to edit, and away you go. With Collections, you can get a little deeper under the hood, so you can easily tweak your blog’s style and fonts in Webflow Designer.
The great thing about Webflow Editor is that it lets you navigate your site using actual links — so you can make sure you’re happy with the look and feel of your content before you hit publish. There’s no need to preview because what you’re editing is what you’ll get on site.
Got existing blog content to migrate into Webflow? Not a problem. Even for content heavy sites with hundreds of blog posts, it’s a straightforward process: convert existing blog content to CSV, import it into your Webflow Collections, and it’s ready for upload.
Inside Webflow CMS, you can even structure your blog collection on-the-fly using the data in your CSV. If your import includes images, these can be mapped to an image field in Webflow CMS for automatic upload.
And should you ever need to export it to a new site, you can follow the same process in reverse.
8. SEO From The Get Go
In Webflow, SEO fundamentals are baked in as standard, and makes managing your sites’ SEO settings a breeze. Through CMS Collections, you can even automate SEO by defining meta title and descriptions using CMS fields.
Having a sitemap helps your site get crawled and indexed by search engines. Without a map, it’s hard for search spiders to discover your content. As you may have already discovered, site mapping is not a standard feature for many website builders, so it requires the introduction of a third-party site-mapping product. Thankfully, Webflow auto-generates an XML sitemap for you.
With Webflow, you can even manage settings such as your sites’ Open Graph (OG) protocol to control how your content looks when it’s shared on various social media channels.
The benefit of Webflow is that it helps you easily optimize your web pages so that in terms of SEO, it’s ready-to-go, with clean code, fast load times, and responsive design that looks great on any device.

Why Your Website Builder Matters
Clients almost never ask us: why Webflow? And who can blame them? At the end of the day, what difference does our choice of website builder make to their website project?
Quite a lot as it happens.

Migrating To Webflow — What You Need To Know
What is Webflow?
Webflow is a no-code, browser-based design tool that allows you to tackle every stage of a website's design and build. The key idea behind it is that it’s an all-in-one platform where you can design, build and then launch your website — without the need for additional tools or a team of coders.
Webflow is different from many other popular CMS, Content Management Systems, in that it does not separate visual design from the code it is built on. Instead, it has a powerful visual editor that is driven by HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Also, because Webflow is a dedicated platform all hosting of a Webflow site is done with them so you just link up your domain name and away you go.
Why Migrate to Webflow

How To Migrate to Webflow
Now for the main course — your go-to guide on how to migrate your website to Webflow. We’re going to cover key things that you need to do no matter whether you want to migrate from WordPress, Squarespace, Drupal, or any CMS platform out there. Ready to get started?
Benchmarking Your Current Site
A really key part of making any migration is to do so with a purpose. Maybe you want to update your image, improve your ranking or site traction. Whatever the reason, to understand if you’ve achieved your goal you have to first understand how your website currently performs.
The metrics you should be looking to understand before migration are things like the website’s current rankings for different keywords, relative ‘health’ of the website using tools like Ahrefs, and perhaps most importantly your current visitor traffic. Those visitor traffic statistics should include everything from traffic per page, to churn and bounce — your most important numbers.
After migration, it is not uncommon to see a dip in traffic but you don’t need to worry. Providing you follow this guide you should be back up to speed and even overtaking your previous pace within 60 days of migration.

Sitemap
Beyond just the stats you hold on your site, understanding the pages that make up your site is hugely important. There are plenty of sitemap tools that you can find with a quick google search but both SEOwl and Convertcsv have simple interfaces that will help you get your sitemap in no time at all.
Use Google Search Console to find out which of your pages are indexed. This is important because when you migrate you may wish to rename some/all of your pages. Knowing what Google already has indexed means you can focus your attention here first during the renaming process.
It’s also important to know what backlinks you have throughout your content and on all your pages. Ahrefs Free Backlink Checker is an easy way of doing this and you can take this list and keep it safe to make sure you set up your redirects correctly.
Once you have migrated, renamed pages, checked backlinks, and completed the indexing, you can get a new sitemap and resubmit that to Google Search Console. You’re making good progress already.

301 redirects
No web owner ever wants a visitor to come across a dead page and that’s where 301 redirects come into play. If you’ve got quality content that refers internally to your work, you want those backlinks to still keep people engaged on your domain.
Luckily, Webflow has 301 redirect support built-in and you can set up redirects for standalone pages as well as a whole folder — for instance, all of your blogs. Simply head to the Project settings on Webflow and fill in the following fields: “Old Path” and “Redirect to Page”, followed by the “ Add Redirect path” button. It really is that simple.
SEO — Meta Titles and Descriptions
If you didn’t already know, SEO is a big deal. If you neglect your Search Engine Optimization then you’re doing your website a disservice because you’re giving your target customer less chance of discovering your excellent products and services.
For every page on your website, you have the opportunity to set meta titles, descriptions, and tags to better reference your content. In short, meta tags are elements of an HTML and XHTML that provide additional information on the content of the page. Google uses this to understand what your pages, posts, in fact, every piece of content on your site is for.
Make sure as you’re migrating your site, and possibly renaming pages, that you are updating the meta tags, titles, and descriptions. It only takes a few minutes but makes a big difference. If you need help check out this meta description generator from Dashword.
Robots.txt
This unsung hero of SEO doesn’t get the credit that a sitemap does but it is useful to get your website ranking just the way you want. A robots.txt file shows search engine crawlers which URLs can be accessed on your site. You might think that you want every page to be found but what if you have a subdomain that you host client-specific content on — you don’t want that to be spotted.
Particularly during the migration process, you might be doing an overhaul of your visuals or site structure. During this time you don’t want google finding out about specific pages while they are being built. Setup your robots.txt file and have it sit at the root of your host. Handily, Webflow deals with robots.txt natively.

Update DNS Records
About the only thing that Webflow doesn’t currently do is help you with domain registrar support. That means you can’t transfer your current domain over to Webflow for them to take care of it all. But not to worry you can still point your domain to the Webflow servers using the DNS records of your current domain registrar.
As long as the Webflow platform does not provide domain registrar services, you cannot transfer your previously hosted domain to it. However, you can still link it to Webflow by pointing that domain to the platform servers using the DNS records.
To update your DNS records you need to login to your domain registrar, and there’s a good chance that it’s the same company as the one hosting your website — as packages for domain names and hosting are often sold together.
Webflow gives you both the A records and the CNAME records so all you have to do is update them with your registrar or domain host. The second that’s done – your site is ready to publish.
We can’t list all the different methods for updating DNS records on every registrar but if you login to your provider they will have complete documentation on how to do it, or alternatively, you can reach out to the support teams — they’re good people. Updates can take up to 24 hours typically so prepare to leave it a day before following up with your registrar.
Webflow CSV Importing
Webflow really is packed with handy features and tools to make your life easier. That includes the CSV importer which is built to make your WordPress migration much simpler. With so many websites being built in WordPress, the smart cookies over at Webflow decided to create something to make the WordPress migration particularly easy.
If you are running WordPress you’ll need to install a plugin like WP CSV which will allow you to export your site's data like posts, pages, tags, categories, users, comments, images — basically everything you need.
Once you have that CSV exported it’s a case of using the Webflow importer to bring your previous data into your new setup. Webflow has even put together a complete guide on the WordPress migration process.
All you need to do is map your existing content in the Webflow CMS to the new Webflow fields, click import and you’re done. It quickly and seamlessly pulls everything together and then you just need to go into each piece and do a quick tidy up. It’s always worth checking spacing and your heading tags before you go live.

Webflow Pre-Launch Checklist
We know there is a lot to think about before you take your site live. It can be a bit nerve-racking because you want all your hard work to pay off. To give you a bit of additional support we’ve put together a pre-launch checklist to cover all the important stuff. Some of it is related to post-migration points of order but a lot is just general things that can be easily missed.
- Spell check EVERYTHING
- Test all of your links and buttons
- Set up 301 Redirects
- Create a custom 404 error page
- Test site on different browsers and devices to make sure it looks good EVERYWHERE
- Connect contact forms to your chosen email address or platform
- Optimize your images (tinypng is a good place to start)
- Make sure all pages have proper meta tags, titles, and descriptions and don’t forget the open graph image!
- Set your site’s language
- Remove Webflow branding
- Add company branding to Editor (this is a nicety)
- Setup analytics (e.g. Google Analytics)
- Setup additional admin logins for your team or contractors

As one of a handful of Webflow Professional Partners in Canada, Khula Design Studio can give your website a clean and complete overhaul, handing it back to you as a valuable and manageable asset, not an engineering nightmare. KHULA™: Winning As A Webflow Professional Partner
Big news people (well, big news for us!)! We’re absolutely psyched to *finally* be approved as a Webflow Professional Partner!

Great! But what does that mean exactly?
Firstly, it’s recognition of the team’s hard work and expertise (they don’t just hand out accreditations!). In the same vein as Microsoft’s partnership network, to be approved you need to reach a certain level of competence. Yup, we had to submit work, have it vetted, demonstrate that our credentials stacked up etc.
Secondly, it’s validation that we’re experienced enough to join Webflow’s global community. Not only that, but we’re one of only 14 Webflow Professional Partners in Canada. This is a huge milestone for a small design studio like ours.
Thirdly, it means we’ll be among the first to get access to new features, insights, and opportunities — which is great for our customers too as we’ll stay ahead of the curve when it comes to what’s new at Webflow.
While our founder Jamie has been building in Webflow for a little while, in just seven months the Khula team has built 22 Webflow sites. Not bad — if we say so ourselves!
